What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication is a technology used to publish frequently updated web content, such as news items, in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", or "web feed") includes full or summarized text, plus data such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds are useful to people who want to subscribe to receive the latest updates from favored websites automatically.

How do I use them?
RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. The user subscribes to a feed by entering into the reader the feed's URL or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work and downloads any updates that it finds. Then all you have to do is check your RSS Reader to see all the latest updates from the websites that you have subscribed to.

How do I get an RSS Reader?

We recommend the free Google Reader as a good place to start.
