NYK LNG
The NYK group is one of the World's largest independent owners and managers of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) vessels. The group currently has ownership in 44 LNG vessels, and confirmed orders which will take the fleet total to over 70 vessels by mid-2012; 43 of which will be managed in-house.
NYK responded to the re-emergence of the LNG trade in the Atlantic basin trade by establishing LNG offices in London and Houston in 2002. This has allowed the group to target the European, African and Americas markets with dedicated staff tp offer you a truly global service. The LNG office in London initially started with just two marketing staff; since then the division has grown to over 30 people spread across two 100% NYK subsidiary companies:
NYK LNG (Atlantic) Limited which has changed its name from NYK Bulkship (Europe) Ltd from 1st of August, 2008 is the commercial arm of the division and is responsible for NYK's LNG business mainly west of the Suez Canal to the United States. LNG Atlantic currently commercially manages ten LNG vessels with another five on order. In addition to management, LNG Atlantic has four on order vessels that will actually be owned by the LNG Atlantic entity - these vessels alone represent assets with an initial investment of over 1 Billion USD.
NYK LNG Shipmanagement (UK) Ltd was created in 2006 when the technical management of the group's LNG vessels was moved into two newly formed 100% NYK subsidiaries. These new subsidiaries were created using the same manuals, standards, systems, procedures and staff that had been built-up with the group since NYK's first LNG vessels were delivered in 1983. The aim of NYK Shipmanagement (UK) Ltd is to allow NYK to better deal with the growing importance of the Atlantic Basin, and to transfer valuable skills and experience into this region.
