London, 8th September 2008:
NYK joins Sea Cadet National Regatta
On Saturday 6th September, the Sea Cadets held their annual National Combined Regatta at the Royal Victoria Docks, London.
This event involved 400 young cadets from all over the UK competing in rowing, canoeing and boat handling (sail, power and oars) events for national prizes.
Earlier in the year, NYK supported the Marine Society & Sea Cadets to buy 12 Yoles rowing boats which were officially presented and launched at this event. NYK Group Communications Officer, Ian Aitchison was there to present the Yoles to the Sea Cadets Corp and was also on hand to award some of the medals to the winning Cadets from the day's events. These fast and exciting 2-person rowing boats will be used at 6 different cadet units throughout the UK and will provide much needed additional resources to enable cadets to get out on the water.
