Southampton, 8th September 2008:
"The Box" takes off on global journey
BBC project to tell the story of international trade is launched.
"The Box" is a unique year-long project being undertaken by BBC News to illustrate the story of international trade and globalisation. A BBC branded shipping container is being tracked as it travels all over the globe to deliver various goods. The BBC will be communicating its progress and the stories behind it via Radio, TV and Online. The Box starts its journey today in Southampton and is due to visit the US, Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa during its travels.
The project is a collaboration between the BBC and NYK, on behalf of the Container Shipping Information Service which aims to bring the global container industry to life and highlight some of the key features of global trade associated with the global success of container shipping.
