NYK News Releases

Northampton, 4th August 2008:

All systems go at NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd.

NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd has been recognised by leading certification body, BSI Management Systems for the achievement of recognised international quality and environmental management standards in impressive timescales.

BSI Director, Phill Spall, personally presented a total of 14 Quality Management certificates to NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd’s CEO, Ian Veitch and Group Quality and Environmental Manager, Darral Beresford at NYK’s Northampton head office recently following the achievement by nine more sites of the ISO9001 Quality Management standard and ISO14001 Environmental Management by a further five.

With 15 locations now certified to ISO9001 and six sites to ISO14001, NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd recognises the role of management systems in delivering improved business efficiency and competitive advantage within the logistics industry.

Darral Beresford said: “These accolades are particularly powerful in a world of rising energy costs and fierce competition in the logistics industry. We are particularly proud to be one of the few businesses in our sector to have gained the ISO14001 Environmental Management certification across such a wide number of sites.

“There were strong business drivers for certifying our business to these standards which demonstrate to all our stakeholders and customers our proactive approach in the adoption of best practice for quality, environment and health and safety. We therefore took the bold step to become the first logistics business in the UK to certify our business in two key areas.”

UK Managing Director for BSI Management Systems, Rob Wallis said: “It would have been commendable for any organisation to achieve any of the standards in this time frame, but to be certified to both Quality and Environmental standards and across so many sites is extraordinary.”

NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd’s plans for the future include registration of all sites to ISO9001 and certification of specific sites to ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001.
