Surcharges

CONTAINER CHARGE

Applies to shipments where extraordinary additional costs of supplying sufficient equipment are incurred which are either location / imbalance and / or equipment specific.

CONGESTION SURCHARGE

This surcharge covers additional vessel, operational and associated costs that are incurred in case of port congestion.

 CHANGE OF DESTINATION CHARGE

This charge covers the administration cost for the arrangement of a change of destination.

NB. Change of Destination for cargo is at the sole discretion of NYK and subject to accessibility in stow and other operational considerations. In all cases, the ocean freight and other charges will be adjusted to those in force for the new destination. All extra costs incurred including but not limited to restowage, repositioning, load or discharge costs, detention and/or demurrage costs, or inland haulage will be for the account of cargo and the 'diversion party', and shall be collected prior to the carrier's cargo release.

CARRIER SECURITY SURCHARGE

This surcharge covers extra ship administration costs incurred by security enhancement and applies globally (excluding inbound & outbound cargo for Taiwan).

EMERGENCY GULF OF ADEN SURCHARGE

This surcharge covers the extra costs associated with the continued risk of piracy in the Gulf of Aden.

HAZARDOUS ADDITIONAL CHARGE

Covers additional operational and administrative costs for handling hazardous cargo in accordance with the NYK hazardous cargo acceptance policy.

Additional charges may apply for IMO classes 1 and 7 and also PSA classes I and II*. Please contact your local NYK office for details.

* PSA classes I and II additional charges are applicable for containers destined and transhipped in Singapore.

HEAVY SURCHARGE

Applies to all 20' dry container where cargo weight* is 18 tonnes or above (*excluding container tare weight) and covers increased operational costs as well as potential 'lost business opportunities' due to associated deadweight operational issues.

SUEZ CANAL TRANSIT

Covers the cost increases for suez canal transit.

GARMENT ON HANGER

This surcharge covers the additional costs incurred by installing Single/Double bar racks into a container = GOH Box.

PANAMA CANAL SURCHARGE

Cost for transiting Panama Canal.

ST. PETERSBURG WINTER SURCHARGE

This charge covers all cargo to/from St. Petersburg from 1st December 2011 until further notice.

Carriage undertaken by NYK Line unless otherwise explicitly stated will be governed by the terms and conditions of NYK Line's Bill of Lading, a copy of which can be obtained from NYK Line's agents.
