    NYK Logistics has been awarded a contract by Nissan Motor Manufacturing for its Central European collections. This new business represents a further step in the development of the relationship between Nissan and NYK in Europe, with NYK now supporting the manufacture of Nissan's complete range of European-made vehicles, in addition to its spare parts operations in the Netherlands and its export parts business to Japan.

  • Amendment To Requirement To Provide Emergency Response Information For Dangerous Goods Shipments From/To USA

     

    Under 49CFR it is currently a requirement to include an emergency response phone number.

     

    As from 01 Oct 2010 it will be mandatory to provide a name as well as an Emergency Response Phone Number.  The relevant regulation is cited in 49CFR §172.604 (b) and applies to all Dangerous Goods shipments to or from the USA.

  • NYK brings winds of change to RORO project market

     

    Through the application of an innovative new loading system, NYK Line (Deutschland) GmbH was recently able to ship four moulds for wind turbine blades, each measuring up to 800 cubic metres in volume and 50 metres in length, which is approximately twice the size of the largest shipments the company could handle previously.

    NYK Logistics UK Ltd has won the Environment Award at the UK Warehouse Association’s (UKWA) annual Awards for Warehousing.

     

    The UKWA is a leading trade association dedicated to the warehousing and logistics sector and its Awards for Warehousing, held this year at London’s Dorchester Hotel, aim to reward excellence in third-party logistics.

  • NYK Line (Deutschland) GmbH awarded AEO Status

    As from 8th July 2010, NYK Line (Deutschland) GmbH will have full Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status in Germany. The AEO (Type F) certificate, which covers both Liner and RORO activities, has been granted to NYK’s offices in Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf by the Customs Authority in Hamburg.

    As from May 2010, the Night Distribution division of NYK Logistics North Continent has performed cross-dock operations out of a new warehouse in Herentals, located in the Flanders region of Belgium.

  • NYK now offer Europe–South Africa service

    NYK Logistics North Continent now organise, via their LCL reefer department, regular sailings between South Africa and Europe.

     

    On a weekly basis, NYK can offer sailings to South Africa, both for dry and reefer loads and for all different container types (20 and 40ft dry, 40ft high-cube reefer and 20ft reefer).

  • NYK increases capacity at Antwerp warehouse

    NYK Logistics North Continent has added an extra 6,000 m² of Good Distribution Practice-licensed (GDP) capacity to its Antwerp warehouse, reinforcing its position as a leading logistics service provider for companies in the healthcare industry.

    The new area constitutes the warehouse’s second ambient zone. In total, the GDP-licensed space in the warehouse comprises two cooled zones, totalling 4,000 m², and two ambient zones of 4,500 and 6,000 m² respectively.

  • Emergency Winter Surcharge

    Introduction of an Emergency Gulf of Riga winter surcharge

    NYK will implement an emergency surcharge on all cargoes to and from Latvia (Riga), due to extreme winter weather currently affecting the Gulf of Riga.  This surcharge will apply for as long as the current operational conditions in the Baltic Sea continue.

  • Emergency Winter Surcharge

    Introduction of an Emergency Gulf of Finland winter surcharge.

     

    NYK will implement an emergency surcharge on all cargoes to and from Estonia and Finland, due to extreme winter weather currently affecting the Gulf of Finland. This surcharge will apply for as long as the current operational conditions continue.

    Dobbies, one of the UK’s leading garden and home retailers, operates 25 garden centres. After branching out from its original base in Scotland, it now has outlets as far south as Shepton Mallet and Milton Keynes.

  • China 24 Hour Advance Manifest Regulation

     

    To Our Valued Customers:

    As you are aware, China Customs is in the process of implementing a new 24hr Advanced Manifest Regulation. This new regulation requires the submission of manifest data 24 hours prior to laden on board vessels bound to or departing China ports, with the exceptions of Hong Kong and Macau. This requires Carriers to modify procedures and systems to ensure compliance and the timely manifesting of cargo. Please find below a status update regarding the new regulation and NYK's compliance.

  • Update on NYK’s structural revenue recovery (SRR) programme.

     

    Despite improvement in rates this summer and ongoing major cost cutting initiatives being undertaken by NYK, it is necessary for us to apply further SRR to continue providing you with the high quality liner service expected of NYK. As a result, we plan to increase our rates from 1st January 2010.

     

  • Grand Alliance Announces Winter Program for Asia-Europe Services

    Grand Alliance partners Hapag-Lloyd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) today announced their Winter Program for Asia-Europe services, with effect from December 28, 2009.

     

    Four of  the GA’s current Asia-Europe services, EU1, EU2, EU3, and EU4, will be temporarily adjusted into three weekly services, renamed Loop A, B and C.

  • Notice to Shippers ADDITIONAL DANGEROUS GOODS INFORMATION REQUIRED UNDER IMDG CODE AMDT34-08 MARINE POLLUTANTS

    Would shippers please note that there is an additional requirement to provide information on marine pollutants for certain generic, as well as N.O.S, entries in the Code. IMDG Code amendment 34 is mandatory from 01 Jan 2010. NYK will be implementing IMDG code amendment 34 from 09 Nov 2009 and will therefore be requesting shippers to provide this information.

  • IMDG CODE AMDT34 BECOMES MANDATORY on 1st JANUARY 2010

    Shippers are reminded that International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code amendment 34-08 becomes mandatory on 01 Jan 2010.

    IMDG code amendment 33-06 ceases to be valid from this date.

    Further to last week’s update, the giant mobile crane is now in place to remove the broken gantry crane boom from the NYK THEMIS.  The injured crane operator, though out of intensive care, remains in a critical but stable condition...

  • Shipside operations resume at Southampton using six cranes.

    Further to yesterday’s update, the NYK THEMIS has moved berths to allow a mobile crane to remove the broken boom from the vessel.  The injured crane operator, though badly injured, is now recovering in hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery.

    NYK can confirm that at 05:15 this morning a gantry crane collapsed onto the NYK THEMIS while she was loading export cargo at the DP World Southampton terminal.

    The Ceres Paragon Terminal (‘Ceres’) in Amsterdam has today handled the first train connecting the container facility in Amsterdam and the rail terminal in Acht near Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The rail connection is maintained by Rail Terminal Eindhoven and rail operator ACTS.
