NYK Logistics North Continent has added an extra 6,000 m² of Good Distribution Practice-licensed (GDP) capacity to its Antwerp warehouse, reinforcing its position as a leading logistics service provider for companies in the healthcare industry.

The new area constitutes the warehouse???s second ambient zone. In total, the GDP-licensed space in the warehouse comprises two cooled zones, totalling 4,000 m², and two ambient zones of 4,500 and 6,000 m² respectively.

In addition, NYK has another request pending, at the Belgian Ministry of Public Health, for a further zone of 2,500 m². If this request is granted, the entire ground floor of the Antwerp warehouse (17,000 m²) will become a GDP-licensed zone.

Hans van der Eijk, General Manager Commercial, said: ???Since the acquisition of its GDP licence in May 2007, NYK Logistics North Continent is continuously and successfully investing in the pharmaceutical business. Storage and handling of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and products for personal care are carried out by specially trained employees using high-quality equipment.???

The Antwerp warehouse is part of NYK???s Pharma Super Highway distribution network, which offers pharmaceutical customers cost reductions, improved lead times and an excellent service performance.
